Elaine, better known as "Lainie" was born in St. Martinville, LA to the late Lawrence and Wilma Lee Fore Melancon. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Lainie graduated from Convent of Mercy in St. Martinville and received a bachelor's degree in Education from USL and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. She formed the Mother of Twins Club in Lafayette, and was also a member of the Bromeliad Society, PASA, and volunteered for Festival International de Louisiane every year. Lainie was also a faithful member of Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic Church in Lafayette for many years. After graduating she taught at Woodvale Elementary for several years before putting her career on hold to raise her family. Upon returning to the workforce, she received her certification as a Legal Secretary/Paralegal and worked in this profession for over 20 years. Exercise and health were a main priority for Lainie and you would often see her at Red's Health Club every workday afternoon. Lainie loved classical music, reading, going to the ballet, Broadway musicals, the symphony, and listening and dancing to Cajun music. Trips she enjoyed included, going to New York with her two daughters, weekend trips to New Orleans, and summer beach trips with her entire family. One of Lainie's goals was to completely renovate her home, which she was able to accomplish and spent many years enjoying her finished project. During this time, she enjoyed traveling to Baton Rouge and New Orleans for French antiques. Lainie truly lived life to the fullest through her many pleasures, but most of all she cherished her time with her close friends and spending time with her family. Her love for her grandchildren was immeasurable. Every chance available she was either traveling to Midland to see Andrew, Parker, and Emma, or attending dance reviews and piano recitals for Claire. Lainie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving children, David Stewart Lawrence Dennis, Anne Kathryn Dennis Mouton and husband Stephan, and Mary Margaret Dennis Miller; grandchildren, Andrew Mouton, Parker Mouton, Claire Miller, and Emma Mouton; and her sister, Kathy Piccione and husband Pete. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Paul Melancon; and mother, Wilma Lee Fore Melancon. Pallbearers will be Andrew Mouton, Parker Mouton, Stephan Mouton, David Dennis, Dr. Jim Piccione, and Paul Piccione.
