St. Martinville - A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Elaine "Noonie" R. Guidry, 96, who passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her family. 

A visitation will take place at St. Martin de Tours on Thursday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

Msgr. Keith DeRouen will officiate the memorial service. Readers will be Katie G. Levens and Edmond Guidry, IV.   Gift bearers Jason Landry, Brook Latiolais, and Bryan Landry. 

Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville, LA.

Elaine "Noonie" R. Guidry, a remarkable soul whose presence brightened the lives of those she encountered, passed away in St. Martinville, LA, on August 21, 2023. Born on November 23, 1926, Noonie's journey through life was filled with love, joy, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Noonie was a shining example of the power of education. After earning her Bachelor's degree in education, she embarked on a career that touched the lives of countless students. 

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Noonie was adored as a lovable wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Her warm and compassionate nature had an extraordinary ability to bring people together. Whether it was her infectious laughter or her genuine interest in others' well-being, Noonie had a magnetic presence that made everyone feel cherished and valued.

In her free time, Noonie indulged in various hobbies and interests that brought her immense joy. She had a natural flair for culinary arts and took great pleasure in cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. The fragrance of roses held a special place in Noonie's heart, as she spent countless hours tending to her exquisite garden filled with vibrant blooms. The act of nurturing these flowers mirrored the care and tenderness she showed to everyone who crossed her path.

Baking was another passion that allowed Noonie to express her creativity and love. The aroma of freshly baked treats often wafted through her home during family gatherings or festive holidays when loved ones gathered around to savor the delectable delights she prepared with so much affection.

Noonie understood the importance of staying active not just physically but also socially. Regular exercise was a part of her everyday routine, reflecting her commitment to maintaining a healthy and vibrant lifestyle. She believed that staying fit allowed her to lead a fulfilling and purposeful life.

Noonie's involvement in the St. Martinville community was nothing short of remarkable. Her passion for gardening led her to become a respected member of the St. Martinville Garden Club, where she shared her expertise and inspired others to cultivate beauty in their surroundings. As the Chairman of the Cleanest City Committee, Noonie worked tirelessly to create a more beautiful and sustainable environment for future generations. Her dedication earned her the admiration and respect of the entire community.

With an innate eye for beauty, Noonie's talents extended beyond gardening. She became a Master Flower Judge, using her knowledge to evaluate and appreciate the artistry present in floral arrangements. Additionally, she played an active role in the Make America Beautiful Organization, working towards enhancing the aesthetic appeal of public spaces.

Elaine "Noonie" R. Guidry will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Her legacy will forever remain in our hearts as a shining example of love, compassion, and dedication. In times of darkness, we will draw inspiration from her boundless kindness and selflessness.

She is survived by her daughters, Eileen (Tommy) G. Landry and Michelle (Craig) Latiolais; sons, Edmond (Laura) Guidry III, Dr. Gary (Ruth) Guidry, and  Danny (Deborah) Guidry; grandchildren, Coby Johnson, Kelly Guidry Simm, Kyle Guidry, Abby Guidry Beslin, Edmond Guidry, IV, Jason Landry, Bryan Landry, Kathryn Landry, Katie G. Levens, Niki Guidry D'Agostino, Danielle Latiolais Gaspard, and Brook Latiolais; and her 16 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Lucille Labbe Rogers; and her husband, Judge Edmond L. Guidry, Jr. 

The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers; Tessa Green, Jessica Gallier, Sarah Mire Devillier, and Chloe Madison.
