Coteau - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, in Coteau, for Elise Romero, 86, who died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at her residence. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.. Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant. A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Romero was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and playing cards. Survivors include her son, Dennis Romero and wife Linda of Coteau; daughters, Lucy Bourque and husband Paul of Coteau, Betty Poirier and husband Doris of Coteau, Laura LeBlanc and husband Wilbert of New Iberia, Brenda Darby and husband Allen of New Iberia; sisters, Evola Comeaux and Paula LeBlanc both of Coteau; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 7 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Romero; a son, Floyd Romero; a grandson, Shannon LeBlanc; sister, Mary Lou Gaspard; brothers, Ellis Gary, Paul Gary, and Sidney Gary. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:30 PM until 10:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. A rosary will be recited at 6:15 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until time of service. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Paul Bourque, Doris Poirier, Wilbert LeBlanc, Allen Darby, Mickey Poirier, and Dennis Romero, Jr. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia, 365-3331, is in charge of arrangements.
