Elizabeth Delacroix

April 9, 1926 — January 8, 2012

St. Martinville- Irene 'Nanu' James Delacroix, 85, fell asleep in death on January 8, 2012. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville. Brother Boyer, will conduct the services. A gathering of family and friends will be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until time of service on Saturday. Singing her favorite song, 'Life Without End At Last,' will be her great granddaughter, Desire Nicole Taylor. Nanu was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She became the first Jehovah's Witness in St. Martinville. She loved to share with others her belief in Jehovah God's love and purpose for the human family. (Revelation 21:3,4; Matthew 5:3,5; Psalms 37:9, 29). She was the epitome of a true lady, who was known for her inner beauty, quiet grace and words of wisdom and encouragement. To have her heritage was to be rich in inner things-spiritual things- the things of the heart. She loved us completely. She discerned and gave us the things of eternal value. She will forever be our heart. The family would like to express their appreciation to all those who touched Nanus life in any way whether big or small. 'For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers 39 ? nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God's love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' Romans 8:38,39. Irene was a dedicated Jehovah Witness. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, baking, talking, and being a caregiver. 'NaNu' never complained and never met a stranger. She gave lessons of life and smiled all the time. She will be remembered for her strength and the love she gave through her good will and singing. Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Joseph Mason Delacroix of St. Martinville; her daughter, Florence Johnson and her husband, Alfred of St. Martinville; three daughters-in-law, Lucinda Jones of Houston, TX, Gail Wiltz of New Iberia, and Phyllis Jones of St. Martinville; her sister-in-law, Jessie Mae James of St. Martinville; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
