Elizabeth Karen Fontenot Fisher

New Iberia - As per Lizs wishes, an intimate gathering of family and close friends was held in the chapel of Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Saturday, May 27th, 2017. Liz died peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning on May 25, 2017. Visitation began at 1:30 PM, followed by a short service by Father Ed Degeyter at 2:30 PM. Liz lived her life as a giving and loving caretaker and nurse, devoting her life to helping others and spreading love and warmth to every person she met. As much love as she had for her patients, her love for her family was forever abundant. Liz lived for her only daughter, Ms. Lindsay Elizabeth Valls, and her dear grandchild, Eric Armand Jolet. There was never a day that went by that Liz did not think of her daughter and the love they shared. They were the lights of each other's lives. Liz made a great impact on those in need as a nurse of over thirty years. She remembered every face and name, reflecting often on those who changed her life as much as she hoped she had been able to change theirs. She filled the room with laughter everywhere she went. Her greatest solace in life was knowing that she lived her life to the fullest, spreading joy and sass wherever she went, and her family will forever remember and miss her. Liz is survived by her daughter Lindsay Elizabeth Valls; her grandson, Eric Armand Jolet; her mother, Pruda Guillory Fontenot; her sisters, Kim F. Broussard & Melanie F. Brisson and husband, Andrew Brisson; her brother, David Fontenot and wife Janet; her nieces and nephews, Lucas Broussard, Allison Broussard, Samuel Breaux, Jed Brisson, Celia Brisson, Adam Fontenot, Jamie Fontenot, and many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow J. Fontenot and brother-in-law Fred J. Broussard.
