Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Elizabeth 'Gail' Brasseaux Mercer, 65, who passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be prayed by Deacon Marcel 'Butch' Hebert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Fr. Brian Taylor, Pastor of St. Genevieve Catholic Church, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Erin Boudreaux and Maggie Brasseaux. Gift Bearers will be Blair and Michael Comeaux and Kamson Bayli. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Gail was a hairdresser, a stay at home mother and a homemaker. She married the love of her life Tom, together they shared 39 beautiful years of marriage, and adopted one beautiful child, Blair, whom she treasured more than life itself. Gail battled cancer for 17 years and despite of that she always stayed very positive. She was a peacemaker and lovely woman to be around anytime, she could always make everything better. Gail had a smile that would make everything right; a tender hearted, free spirited and caring person, who shared her love and company of everyone she knew and came across. Her care and commitment to her family was number one in her life, she loved going to her grandsons baseball games which she never missed, playing tea party dressing up her granddaughter, working in her yard, watching ULL games, going to family get-togethers, laughing with her two brothers shopping with her daughter. If there was an event for one of her family members she was always there. Gail loved her husband, her children, her family, and most especially her grandchildren, Kamson Bayli and Isabella Marie, whom she cared about deeply. She will be sorrowfully missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew and loved her dearly. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Mercer; her daughter, Blair Mercer Comeaux and husband, Michael; two brothers, Michael Brasseaux and wife, Debbie, and Tim Brasseaux and wife, Paula; and two grandchildren, Kamson Bayli and Isabella Marie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Furdy Anthony and Delta Latiolais Brasseaux; maternal grandparents, Theobald and Isabelle Latiolais; and paternal grandparents, Noah and Lucille Brasseaux. Pallbearers will be Ryan Brasseaux, Mike Brasseaux, Tim Brasseaux, Michael Comeaux, Seth Brasseaux, and Ethan Brasseaux.
