Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Ella Mae Dugas Calais, 84, who passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia.
Father Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Ella Mae was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and working in her flower beds. In her younger years, she babysat kids in her home - Nancy Trahan, Matthew Thibodeaux, Stoney Devillier, John Angelle, Timothy Trahan, Sonny Walpole, Denise Landry, and Rev Shelby Thompson.
Survivors include her three daughters, Renella Calais Shelby, of Natchez, MS, Sue Alice Calais, and Deborah C. Guidry, and her husband, Amilcar "Mickey" Guidry, all of Cecilia; two grandchildren, Sonny Walpole and Rev S. Thompson; and four great grandchildren, Sydney Walpole, Leah Walpole, Drew Thompson, and Scott Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Calais; her parents, Octave and Bertha Quebedeaux Dugas; two sons-in-law, Randy Shelby and Terry Walpole; three brothers, Leroy, Antoine, and Romain Dugas; and four sisters, Leah Thomassee, Dora Calais, Versie Robin, and Eliza Angelle.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 6 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
A rosary will be recited Friday evening.
