Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2007, at a 2:00 p.m. Mass in St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, for Ella May Arnaud Tally, who died in her sleep on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Interment following the Mass will be in the Church Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Mrs. Tally, or Taunte May May as she was affectionately known by her family, was born in Arnaudville on February 23, 1911, the 14th of 17 children born to George Jacques Arnaud and Alzire Marie Arnaud. As a young woman she decided on a career in Nursing and made the long journey to New Orleans where she attended and graduated Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1935. Thereafter, she returned to Arnaudville and worked for Dr. Segrera until her marriage to Bennet Tally in 1939. She lived in Henderson for the rest of her life, but the home of her heart was always Arnaudville. She was very generous to her family with her time, resources and love. After her children were grown, she became an avid horse person, for many years breeding, raising and riding Arabian horses.
She is survived by her four children: Elizabeth and her husband, Col. James Dupr, of Cecilia; Irma Gene and her husband, Dr. L. J. Huval, of Breaux Bridge; Dr. William Tally, of Henderson; and Jack Tally, of Lafayette. Survivors also include twenty grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and one step great grandson.
A granddaughter, Alicia Merle Huval, a great granddaughter, Ruth Elizabeth LaFleur, and a daughter-in-law, Linda P. Tally, preceded her in death.
Special thanks to Dr. Paul Rees, Dr. Kirk Elliott and the J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home nurses and CNA staff for the excellent care and attention given to our mother during her time in their facility.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2007, and continue until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.
