Henderson - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Henderson, for Ellis Joseph Dupuis, 72, who passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henderson.
Father Lawrence Abara will officiate at the funeral Mass. Readers will be Kylie Robin and Tyson Dupuis.
Mr. Dupuis honorably served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed shrimping, gardening, camping, watching sports, and recounting numerous stories to family and friends, often telling them, "Be careful, telephone poles, always talk." Mr. Dupuis loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, but most especially with his loving wife of 44 years, Lucille.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Dupuis, of Henderson; four sons, Gary Dupuis and wife, Stacy, Troy Dupuis and wife, Kristy, Wendell Dupuis and wife, Jamie, and Tyson Dupuis and fiance, Taylor; two daughters, Kim Robin and husband, Richard, and Tina Dupuis, all of Henderson; 20 grandchildren, Gary, II, John, and Chase Dupuis, Roger, Jr., Drey and Logan Broussard, Logan Angelle, Kyle and Karley Dupuis; Krystal, Kylie, Ryan, Rodie, Kaila, Kelsie, Raven and Rusty Robin, and Brett, Kale and Alyssa Dupuis; and two great grandchildren, Kaisley and Brayden Broussard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Loretta Scrantz Dupuis; three brothers, John, Jessie, and Essie Dupuis; two sisters, Celeste Devillier and Marie Seneca; and a granddaughter, Torrie Rae Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until 9:30 a.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Gary and Chase Dupuis, Roger, Drey, and Logan Broussard, Ryan and Rodie Robin, and Tyson Dupuis.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Henderson is in charge of arrangements.
