Elmer "EJ" Seneca, Jr.

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church honoring the life of Elmer "E.J." Seneca, Jr., 79, who passed away on December 24, 2024, at The Carpenter House.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until service time.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Friday.

Rev. Michael Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Ashley and Jude McGehee. Gift bearers will be Paula Huval and Amanda Bouchereau. 

Burial will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.

E.J. spent his career in the oil field industry, where he rose to the position of supervisor. Outside of his professional life, Elmer was an avid hunter and fisherman. He found joy in the great outdoors. His culinary skills were legendary among family and friends; he was particularly known for his fried ribs and delicious gumbo, which brought loved ones together around the dinner table. Elmer had a love for playing cards, sharing stories, and enjoying a cold beer while surrounded by those he cherished most.

He is survived by his children, Melissa (Christopher) Grill and Dusty Seneca; grandchildren, Kendall Larson, Ashley (Jude) McGehee, Tyler Grill, Valek Seneca, Drake Seneca, River Seneca, Hyland Seneca and Elijah Donimgue.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Theroit Seneca; son, Michael Shane Seneca; parents, Elmer and Modess Patin Seneca; siblings Rand Seneca, Elderina Hebert and Alvin Seneca, Sr..

Pallbearers will be Mickey Seneca, Kendall Larson, Tyler Grill, Dusty Seneca, Jude McGehee and Jordy Alleman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bert Seneca, Carl Seneca and Alvin Seneca, Jr..
