Elmer J. Wiltz Sr.

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Elmer Joseph Wiltz, Sr., 92, who passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at Dauterive Hospital in New Iberia. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Wiltz was a carpenter at heart who loved working with wood and was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include five sons, Alvin Wiltz, of Breaux Bridge, Elmer Wiltz, Jr., of Parks, Chester Wiltz, of Breaux Bridge, Ray Wiltz, of Shreveport, and Gregory Wiltz, of Houston, TX; three daughters, Lois Trahan, of St. Martinville, Jeannette Foreman, of New Iberia, and Charlene Wiltz, of St. Martinville; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel William Wiltz; a son, Charles Wiltz; two daughters, Linda and Madel Wiltz; his parents, Ignace and Mercedes Vavasseur Wiltz; one brother, Murphy Wiltz; two sisters, Prenella Bryant and Gertrude Combs; and a granddaughter, Tammy Smith. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Pallbearers will be his five sons, Alvin, Elmer Jr., Chester, Ray, and Gregory Wiltz, and two grandsons, Brian Trahan and Jamal Foreman. Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Wiltz, Ron Wiltz, Odell Trahan, and Walter Foreman. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
