Broussard - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Monday, November 24, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard, for Elmo Cormier, 64, who passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014, in California. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Broussard, from 9:00 am until 12:45 pm on Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 12 noon. Entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Broussard. Mr. Cormier was a graduate of Southern University with a Bachelors Degree in Business. He then continued his studies at Cal State receiving his Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. He was retired from the Los Angeles County Probation Department. Elmo was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He loved his Alma Mater Southern University "Jaguars," and attended the Bayou Classic faithfully. He loved traveling and cooking and he enjoyed the many flavors of Blue Bell Ice Cream - it was his absolute favorite. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by five brothers, Russel Cormier, Sr. and wife, Mary Alice Aubrey, Cliven Cormier, Sr. and wife, Anita, William Cormier, Maynese Cormier and wife, Shirley, and Willis Glenn and wife, Patricia; and his sister, Ruby Cormier He is preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Cormier, Sr. and Serena Jacquet Cormier; and seven brothers, Wilton, Wilson, Harold, Lionel, Jr., Lenon, Anthony, and Chester Cormier. Pallbearers will be Keithan Cormier, Chester Cormier, Stephan Cormier, Joseph Cormier, Serena Pickney, and Clarence Perdue. Pellerin Funeral Home, (337.332.2111), is in charge of arrangements.
