Elmore Francis Bonin, Jr.

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2007, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Dr. Elmore Francis Bonin, Jr., 76, who died Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Dr. Bonin, better known as "T-Moe" to his friends, was a graduate of U.S.L. and Loyola. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 - 1956. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Woodlawn Hunting Club, the Louisiana Airstream Club, and the Louisiana Dental Association, and a former member of the St. Martinville Rotary Club. Dr. Bonin served as a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 12 for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lynne Hovey Bonin of St. Martinville; his son, Christopher Martin Bonin, D.D.S. of San Francisco, CA; his daughter, Lynnette Bonin Bourgeois and her husband, Eugene, of Austin, TX; his brother, Joseph "Sing" Bonin of St. Martinville; his sister, Margaret Regard of New Iberia; and two grandchildren, Rene' and Simone Bourgeois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Senator Elmore F. Bonin, Sr. and Gertrude Steckler Bonin. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening. Pallbearers will be Clifford Durand, John P. Martin, Harold Bienvenue, Lynn Guidry, Larry Guidry, David Hovey, Joseph Bonin, and Jady Regard. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their kindness, gentle care and compassion, given to Dr. Bonin during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Dr. Bonin's name to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503-3240. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
