Parks - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks, for Emelie ""Lu-Lun"" Thibodeaux Guidry, 88, who passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Reverend Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the funeral Mass and conduct the funeral service. Concelebrant will be Reverend Fr. Bryce Sibley. ?Altar Servers will be Ashley Bordelon and Kuri Louviere. ?Readers will be Pauline Bordelon and Kristine Springer. Gift bearers will be Chassidy Menard, Karley Louviere, and Jacob Dore.
""Lu-Lun,"" as she was better known to her family and friends, was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting and sewing. ?She was a hard worker and her family was her life - they came first before her needs, always making sure that everyone was taken care of physically, emotionally, and spiritually. ?""Lu-Lun's"" most treasured times were those spent with her family, whom she loved and adored. ?She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include three sons, Chester Guidry and his wife, Dell, of Lafayette, Murphy Guidry and his wife, June, of Newburgh, NY, and Alfred Guidry and his wife, Jannie, of Parks; two daughters, Renella ""Nell"" Theriot and her husband, Preston ""Tiger,"" and Geraldine ""Jean"" Solis and her husband, Frank, all of Parks; two brothers, Wilton Thibodeaux and Marshall Thibodeaux; two sisters, Lula Mae Lasseigne and Hazel Thibodeaux, all of Parks; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Pascal Guidry; her parents, Alexis and Eunice Barras Thibodeaux; and one brother, Lloyd Thibodeaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until time 9 p.m. on Monday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday.
A rosary will be recited by Fr. Bryce Sibley at 7 p.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Murphy, Chester, and Alfred Guidry, Frank Solis, Robert Guidry, Jr., and Jeff Guidry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wilton Thibodeaux, Lloyd Guidry, Jason Guidry, and Johnny Solis.
The family would like to express special thanks and gratitude to the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff of Lafayette General Medical Center for the care and concern given to their mother, and to them, during her illness. ?
