Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 pm, on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, for Emery "Tim" Mallet, 93, who passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Emerys hand was never let go of the entire week. He held on to the crucifix from Egypt given to him by Dr. and Mrs. Sarwat Gad, until the very end of his peaceful passing while surrounded by his loving family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 2 pm until 10 pm on Monday, and continue on Tuesday at 7 am until 12:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 pm on Monday.
Rev. Keenan Brown will officiate at the Funeral Mass with Fr. Gary Schexnayder con-celebrating at the funeral service. Scriptures will be read by Dana Blanchard and Tyler Mallet. Gift Bearers will be all of his children. Eucharistic Ministers will be Wilda and Deke Dekerlegand. Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Mr. Mallet was a veteran of World War II, honorably serving his country in the United States Army, having attained the rank of Sergeant during his enlistment.
He was a dedicated servant to the Town of Arnaudville having served as their Postmaster for many years until his retirement from the United States Postal Service. He also served as the Town Clerk, and for 13 1/2 years he served as an Alderman.
Emery was a longtime parishioner of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville and a member of the American Legion Post.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising cattle. His dedication to his community, where he served them well, will long be remembered and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Leola Devillier Mallet; his son, Robert "Timmy" Mallet and wife Tonya; four daughters, Wilda M. Dekerlegand and husband Deke, Connie M. Hargrave, Freida M. Patterson and husband Bob, and Kayla M. Taylor and husband Wendell; 12 grandchildren, Dana D. Blanchard, Danielle D. Cromwell, Deke E. Dekerlegand, II, Brandon L. Hargrave, Marie Alana H. Gad, Lore' Lyndsey Hargrave, Toni M. Breaux, Trina R. Mallet, Tyler L. Mallet, Chase M. Taylor, Brittany M. Taylor, and Myles D. Taylor; and 10 great grandchildren, Cameron Blanchard, Kylie Blanchard, Cecelia Cromwell, Camille Cromwell, Tate Cromwell, Ethan Simon, Raegan Breaux, Alex Breaux, Isabelle Taylor, and, Cam Taylor
He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Armanse Babineaux Mallet; his brother, Lee Mallet and two sisters, Beunice Marks and Lillis Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Deke E. Dekerlegand II, Brandon L. Hargrave, Chase M. Taylor, Myles D. Taylor, Wendell Taylor, and Bob Patterson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert "Timmy" Mallet, Cameron Blanchard, Steven Taylor, Albert Lanclos, Chester "Doc" Broussard, Remi Olivier, and Dr. Sarwat Gad.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Arnaudville is in charge of arrangements.
