Lydia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2006, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Lydia for Emily Cavelier, 94, who died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at a local hospital.. Entombment will be in Patoutville Cemetery. A native of Weeks Island, Ms. Emily lived in St. Bernard Parish for 30 years. The joy of her life was spending time with her grandchildren, especially her great grandchildren. Survivors include her son Malcolm Adams and wife Mildred of New Iberia; daughter Jacqueline Rooks and husband George of New Orleans; daughter in law, Sue Hargrove of Bryan, Georgia; grandchildren, Bret Adams and wife Donna of New Iberia, David Adams, Jr. of Alexandria, Latesa Adams Broussard and husband Mica of Alexandria, Jill Adams Hammon of Lafayette, Gamaine Adams Lovas and husband Duanne of Alexandria, George Rooks and wife Sheila of St. Rose, Chad Rooks of New Orleans, Shane Rooks and wife Jessica of Virginia Beach, VA, Brad Adams and wife Katie of San Antonio; great grandchildren, Brycen, Amanda and Melanie Hammon, Alex, Andre, Raven and Natalie Adams, Christian, Patrick and Alyssa Rooks, Toria Broussard, Tyler Nunez and Jacquelyn Grisaffee. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Cavelier; her son, David Adams, Sr., her parents, Leonce Broussard, Sr. and Lititia Picou Broussard; her sisters, Alydia Darnall, Ernie Mary Broussard and her infant twin sister; her brother Leonce Broussard, Jr. A gathering of family and friends will be held at St. Nicholas Catholic Church on Thursday, January 11, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m.. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Bret Adams, David Adams, Jr., George Rooks, Chad Rooks, Shane Rooks and Brad Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be her great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia is in charge of arrangements.
