St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Enola "Red" Douet Bergeron, 86, who passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 pm on Friday.
Rev. Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Adrienne H. Ledet, Karson Durand, and Randi Leigh Bonvillian. Gift bearers will be April H. Jenkins, Amy H. Lukaszeski, and Aaron Delahoussaye.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Enola "Red" was born October 2, 1930 in St. Martinville. For many years, Red worked as a cafeteria worker for St. Martin Parish Schools and was also a seamstress out of her home. She enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, and celebrating birthdays. One of her favorite outings was going to the Piccadilly restaurant with her family and eating their crawfish etouffe. Red had a sense of humor and was known for not holding back her words. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Calice Bergeron, Jr.; her daughters, Suzanne B. Durand and husband Richard, Paulette B. Bonvillian, and Yvonne B. Hebert and husband Lynn; her grandchildren, Robert Durand and wife Christie, Jason Durand and wife Gwen, Jessica Bonvillian, Ross Bonvillian, Travis Bonvillian, Paul Hebert and wife Amanda, Adrienne H. Ledet and husband Donald, Amy H. Lukaszeski and husband Kenneth "Luke", and April H. Jenkins and husband James; and her great grandchildren, Karson, Karli and Lexi Durand, Randi Leigh, Trelyn, Trahe' and Talia Bonvillian, Koen, Paxton and Emeline Hebert, Aaron Delahoussaye, Jacob Ledet, Aleah and Luc Lukaszeski, Brianna Menard, and Cameron Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Blanche Champagne Douet; her son, Eric J. Bergeron, an infant son, Joseph; her brothers, Louis, James, Roy and Allen Douet; and her sister, Genevieve D. Simon.
Pallbearers will be Robert Durand, Jason Durand, Paul Hebert, Trelyn Bonvillian, Luke Lukaszeski, and Richard Durand.
