Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 17, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Ernest Batiste, 78, who passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Survivors include his wife, Georgia Batiste; two sons, Ronald Batiste and Ernest Noel; one daughter, Bernadine Noel and her husband, Joseph, all of Cecilia; five step sons, Earl Noel, Linton Noel, Willie Roy Noel, David Noel, and Napoleon Noel, all of Cecilia; six step daughters, Barbara Batiste, Linda Noel, Brenda Journet, all of Cecilia, Juanita Phillips, of Parks, Patricia Noel, of Cecilia, and Martha Calais, of Henderson; one brother, Roger Batiste, of Cecilia; one sister, Georgia Lewis, of Cecilia; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Mary Aloisa Sam Batiste; one daughter, Velma Harris; two step sons, Joseph F. Noel and Edward P. Noel, Sr.; one brother, Robert Batiste; and one sister, Audrey Batiste. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be David Calais, Kendall Journet, Scotty Journet, Earl Noel, Jr., Joshua Noel, and Brent Calais. Honorary pallbearers will be Rogers Batiste, Ronald Batiste, Ernest Noel, Joseph Noel, Kent Journet, David Noel, Earl Noel, Sr., Leroy Noel, Linton Noel, Sr., and Napoleon Noel. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
