St. Martinville- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Ernest "Pa" Dugan, Jr., 74, who passed away at his home surrounded by his family.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and will continue Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Tuesday.
Rev. Jason Vidrine will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Megan Bienvenue, Catherine Delcambre and Caitlin Dugan. Gift bearers will be Jeanine Dore', Adalyn Dore' and Ahnalise Bienvenue.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Ernest was born June 19, 1948, in Lafayette. He honorably served in the United States Army and was a Combat Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Richard Champagne Unit 289 in Parks.
Ernest, known as "Pa," to his loved ones, was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He cherished the time spent with his family, they were his pride and joy. As a young man, he worked in a bakery as a sugar technician and was very fond of his work. He later worked in the oil field. Ernest enjoyed going to the casino, bowling, and fishing. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by wife Dianne Talley Dugan; children, Tressie Boudreaux (T-Lloyd), Monique Labiche (Bobby), Clint Dugan (Rachel), and Sherry Delcambre (Elton); grandchildren, Zachary Delcambre (Catherine), Logan Labiche, Jacob Dore', Jeanine Dore', Caitlin Dugan, Colin Dugan (Cameron), Megan Bienvenue (Tyler), Matthew Delcambre, Michael Salmons (Robert), Blake Bila, Tyler Labiche and Trisha Labiche; great grandchildren, Paisley, Adalyn, Liam, Bellamy, Blakelyn, Devin, Kyrstin, Ava, Ben, Ikora, Ahnalise, Parker, Ella, Ivy and Malahni; siblings, Morris "Bully" Champagne, Jr., Edward Paul Dugan, Angela Cormier and Mary Jane Dendy; and his best friend and dog, Lucky.
He is preceded in death by parents, Ernest Dugan, Sr. and Eunice Roseberry Dugan; son, Dennis J. Dugan; grandchild, Brandon Labiche; great grandchild, Madelyn; and siblings Christy Agnes Dugan Belaire and Helen Ann Dugan Warren.
Pallbearers will be Zack Delcambre, Logan Labiche, Matthew Delcambre, Colin Dugan, Jacob Dore' and Morris Joseph "Bully" Champagne.
Honorary pallbearers will be Liam, Bell and Parker.
