Ernest "Ernie" Pouliot

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, for Ernest “Ernie” Pouliot, 67, who passed on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Nathan Comeaux will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Monday, from 12 noon until 7:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue Tuesday, from 11:00 am until 1:30 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Monday.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Pouliot was born on August 24, 1956, to the late Marcel and Elsie Decuir Pouliot, and was a 1974 graduate of New Iberia Senior High. He was the owner of Mike’s Machine shop and was an avid fisherman. Ernie was unselfish, always putting others first and never having a bad word to say about anyone. He had a deep love for his family, and children. Ernie was a dedicated and loving husband of 40 years to his wife, Donna, who passed away in 2016.

Survivors include his children, Jason Pouliot, Tiffany Menard (Ryan), and Jill Pouliot; grandchildren, Meg Menard, Abbey Menard, Cooper Menard, Emma Pouliot, and Brycen Champagne; sisters, Yvonne Rosen (Michael), and Barbara Walker (Carl).

Ernie was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Donna Decoux Pouliot; and his parents, Marcel and Elsie Decuir Pouliot.
