New Iberia - A gathering of family and friends will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia on Thursday, August 31, 2017, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, for Ernest Lee McGee, Jr., 73, who passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017, at his home. Interment will be at a later date. Ernest Lee McGee, Jr. was born in Jeanerette, LA on January 15, 1944 to the late Ernest Lee McGee and Elizabeth Banta McGee LeMaire. He was longtime resident of New Iberia, and was a sugarcane farmer for many years. Lee was a retired Horticulturist, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and crabbing. A gun enthusiast, Lee was an avid Second Amendment advocate. He was a family man who loved his grandchildren to distraction. He will be deeply missed. Lee is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Lisa Viator McGee; four children, Amy L. McGee, Sean Lee McGee and wife Rebecca Buteaux McGee, Monique M. Dumond and husband Andrew, and Cinnamon M. Beaugh and husband Damian, all of New Iberia; two stepdaughters, Nicole P. Arnold of Prairieville and Meagan W. Patout of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Emma Hebert, Camille Hebert, Sophia Dumond, Gabrielle McGee, Nicholas Lee McGee, Bailey Beaugh, and Ethan Beaugh; a brother, Rufus LeMaire and wife Sherry of Shreveport; sisters, Elizabeth "Libby" M. Muffoletto and husband Walter Paul of Portland, TX, and Lonie L. Prentiss and husband Armand of Jeanerette; and former wife, Lana M. Rentz and husband Kline of Jeanerette. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by a stepson, Jeffery K. Patout. Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, New Iberia, LA 70560, (337-365-3331) is in charge of arrangements.
