Ernest Joseph Thomassee

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Cecilia for Ernest Joseph Thomassee, 79, who passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008 at his residence. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Rev. Fr. Donald Pousson will officiate at the funeral Mass. The reader will be his son, Brad Thomassee. Mr. Thomassee was an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed camping. He loved doing woodworking and gardening and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. His most treasured times were those spent with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by three sons, Elrod Thomassee and his wife, Pam, and Bradley Thomassee, all of Cecilia, and Malcolm Thomassee, of Coteau Holmes; three daughters, Claire Landry and her husband, Mike, of Cypress Island, Sandra Guidry and her husband, Andy, of Parks, and Sarah Seneca and her husband, Alvin, of Cecilia; four brothers, Nolan Thomassee, of Cecilia, Gerald Thomassee, of Texas, Paul Thomassee, of Lake Charles, and Carroll Thomassee, of Cecilia; three sisters, Lilly Zeringue and Laida Berard, both of Cecilia, and Georgia Boutte, of St. Martinville; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Brasseaux Thomassee; his parents, Louis Thomassee, Sr. and Amanda Angelle Thomassee; one brother, Louis "Buddy" Thomassee, Jr.; one sister, Sue Guidry; and a granddaughter, Christina Thomassee. The family requested that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until 12 midnight on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Pallbearers will be Troy Seneca, Timothy Seneca, Elrod Thomassee, Alvin Seneca, Michael Landry, and Andy Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Trey and Ty Chantagnier. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
