Ed Downs will officiate. ; Born on May 13, 1948, Mr. Babin was a self employed building contractor. He was an avid fisherman, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. ; Survivors include wife, Jean Trim Babin of New Iberia; son, Derek Blake Babin of New Iberia; daughters, Brooksie Babin Thibodeaux and husband Richard Anthony Thibodeaux of Youngsville, Kelly Babin Laborde and husband Andre Murphy Laborde of Scott, Deidra Babin Deitz and husband Dayton Charles Deitz of New Iberia; brother, Garland Joseph Babin of Loreauville; sisters, Clelie Babin Svoboda and husband Richard of Ft. Worth, Texas, Theresa Babin Romero of Crowley, Thelma Babin Hulin and husband Curtis of New Iberia, Jenny Babin Lopiccolo of New Iberia, Jane Babin of DeRidder; grandchildren, Alexa Thibodeaux, Colin Thibodeaux, Amalie Thibodeaux, Peyton Laborde, Audrey Laborde, Alayha Babin, and Rylan Charles Deitz. ; He was preceded in death by parents, Leo and Yolande Melancon Babin; sisters, Cecila "Sis" Metz, Sandra Gail Babin Ball, Eula Mae Babin Russo; brothers, Harold Babin, Howard Babin, Antoine Babin. ; Pallbearers will be Derek Babin, Bob White, Mac Thomas, Mark LaSalle, Frederick Metz, Jr., and Louis Babin. ; Honorary pallbearers include Curry Buffington, Richard Thibodeaux, Andre Laborde, Dayton Deitz, Glen Martin, Eric Metz, Gordon Hebert, Garland Babin, Terrance Musemeche. ; Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA. 70503. ; A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia.
