Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Esther Sam Demouchet, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday and continue at 7:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday at Pellerin Funeral Home on Carver Dauterive. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Friday.
Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Esther was a retired housekeeper and also did ironing for outside clients. She loved cooking for her family, playing cards, going to the casino, and dancing.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Prenella) Demouchet and Lucien Demouchet; four daughters, Gladys Demouchet, Shirley (Ricky) Daniels, Barbara (Shelton) Celestine, all of Breaux Bridge, and Mary (Walter) Batiste of Jennings; 25 grandchildren and 63 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lucien Demouchet; her mother, Corine Duplechin; her father, Hector Sam; one son, Frank Demouchet; two daughters, Willa Mae Batiste and Gloria "Coon" Alexander; two brothers, Paul and Ernest Sam; four sisters, Marie Boyd, Cecile Joe, Irma Fuselier, and Anna Bell Washington; and four grandchildren, Eula Demouchet, Damian Batiste, Lester and Sylvester Butler.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Hill, Cuthas Butler, Donald Butler, Scotty Huval, Frank LeBlanc, Jr., and Donnell Burrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Shelton Celestine, Walter Batiste, Ricky Daniels, Alfred Potier, Jimmy Sam, Everette Thomas, Paul Sam, Melvin Sam, Lester Sam, and Clarence Washington.
