Parks - A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Parks, for Ethel Roy DeLaune, 97, who passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012, at St. Martin Hospital.
A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday, prior to the Memorial Mass.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Memorial Mass. Scriptures will be read by Roxanne Roy and her grandchildren will serve as Gift Bearers. Inurnment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Ethel was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in Parks. Each Mother's Day, she was honored at Mass as being the oldest mother in the congregation.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail DeLaune Pierre of Parks; her son, Russ George (Gloria) DeLaune of Baton Rouge; daughter in law, Mary DeLaune of Youngsville; her sister, Winola Roy Guidroz of Parks; five grandchildren, Terri Allen of Dallas, TX, Toni Carmena (Benji) of Denham Springs, Elizabeth Comeaux (Anthony) of Youngsville, Glenn DeLaune, Jr. (Katie) , and Angela McNitt (Mark) of Houston, TX; and four great grandchildren, Cole Allen of Austin, TX, Justin Allen of Dallas, TX, Benjamin Carmena of Denham Springs, and Madison Comeaux of Youngsville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Antoine A. DeLaune; her parents, Jack and Clara Fuselier Roy; her son, Glenn L. DeLaune Sr.; and six brothers and one sister.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Warren Degatur, the staff at St. Martin Hospital, and Hospice of Acadiana, for the loving care she received.
