Ethel Romero Melancon

Coteau – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 pm on Friday, February 17, 2023, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, in Coteau, for Ethel Romero Melancon, who passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023. Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.

Rev. Matthew Hebert will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home, and will continue on Friday from 8:00 am until 12:45 pm.

A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Thursday.

A native and lifelong area resident, Mrs. Melancon was born on March 18, 1938 to the late Alexis and Eunice Menard Romero. She retired from the Department of Transportation after 35 years of service, and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, canvas painting, working in her flower beds, and reading. Most of all, Mrs. Melancon loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Debra Touchet (Teddy), David Melancon (Suszy), Sandra Viator (Errol) and Vanessa Domingue (Todd); sister, Ella Verot; sister-in-law, Jeanette Turner; grandchildren, Dawn DeRouen (Nick), Danielle Boutte (Dougie), Taylor Touchet, Blake Melancon (Brad), Brooke Gibson (Josh), Cole Viator (Shaina), Alexis Massey (Anthony), Madilyn Domingue (Chris), Colton Domingue, and Brock Trahan; great grandchildren, Shay, Bryce, Braxton, Kaden, Kason, Kolin, Emma, Drake, Jordyn, Parker, Kennedi, Marley, Kingston, Dallas, and Carsyn; and great great grandchildren, Kashton and Talon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Curtis Melancon; her in laws, Sainte and Lena Romero Melancon; sisters, Altha Romero and Shirley Degeyter; and a nephew, Swain Verot.

Pallbearers will be David Melancon, Todd Domingue, Bryce DeRouen, Blake Melancon, Cole Viator, and Colton Domingue.

Honorary pallbearers include Braxton DeRouen, Kaden Boutte, Josh Gibson, Brad Prioux, Brock Trahan, Kason Boutte, Drake Arceneaux, Kingston Collins, Dougie Boutte, Nick DeRouen, Anthony Massey and Chris Raymond.
