Ethel Savoy

St. Martinville A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday, May 2, 2015 at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Ethel Agnes Shrimp Savoy, 90, who passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015, in New Iberia. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. Ethel was born on January 3, 1925, and was a lifelong resident of St. Martinville, LA. She cherished moments spent with her family and friends. Ms. Ethel had many hobbies including; reading, volunteering, traveling, and eating out. She retired as a telephone operator at Bellsouth/AT&T with over 35 years of service to the company. She was a member of the Bellsouth Telephone Pioneers, and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She is survived by her nieces and nephew; Sharon D. Nunez of New Iberia, Charlotte D. Breaux and husband Carroll of New Iberia, Mark Derouen and wife Barbara of New Iberia Sandra M. Hebert and husband Robert of Lake Charles, Deborah M. Pendarvis and husband Richard of FL, Peggy M. Davis and husband Bill of Baton Rouge; two nieces-in law, Rosie F. Derouen of Lake Charles and Barbara R. Derouen of New Iberia; three special friends, Regina "Pookie" Maraist of New Iberia and Hazel Beyt and husband Thomas of New Iberia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julian Savoy and Camilla Bonin Savoy; sisters, Anna Mae S. Derouen, Odile S. Mouton, Margaret S. Mouton Mire; nieces, Brenda D. Raimer, Jacqueline Mouton, Joy Rita M. Blanchard; nephews, Darryl Derouen and Gregory Derouen. The family would like to give special thanks to Bridgeway Hospice and New Iberia Manor South for their care and compassion during Ms. Ethels illness.
