St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2007, at St. Martin de tours Catholic Church, in St. Martinville for Etta ""Peta"" Huval Champagne, 87, who died on Sunday, August 5, 2007 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville. Fr. Ed Degeyter will conduct the services. Readers for the service will be Harly Melancon, Devyn Broussard and Drew Huval. ?Arleen Broussard, Kristy Poche, Wendy Fuselier and Nicole Smith will serve as gift bearers. Vocalist will be Patrick Menard, accompanied by Pat Melancon on the organ. Mrs. Champagne was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Thursday Morning Group. ?She worked at the Gary Company for 19 years and as a funeral home attendant for Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for many years. Survivors include her sons, Nolan ""Boo"" Champagne, Jr. and his wife, Francine, of St. Martinville, and Dwane Champagne, of Houston, TX; her daughters, Marilyne Owen and her husband, Ray, and Rosalie Melancon and her husband, Nickey, all of St. Martinville; her sisters, Mrs. Gus (Lena) Katsoulis and Mrs. Bud (Marian) Roy, both of St. Martinville; her grandchildren, Arleen Broussard and her husband, Brent, Craig Melancon and his wife, Vickie, Brian Melancon and his wife, Mario, Ryan Owen and his wife, Kara, Kristy Poche and her husband, Casey, Wendy Fuselier and her husband, Craig, and Nicole Smith and her husband, Scott, her step-grandchildren Julie Rhodes and her husband, Peter, and Richard Owen; her great grandchildren, Harly Melancon, Cameron Melancon, Gabby Bruno, Ellie Grace Smith, Devyn Broussard, Layton Broussard, Drew Huval, Abby Poche, Cole Fuselier; step-great grandchildren, Dusty and Scotty Rhodes; and a step-great-grandchild, Alexis Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Champagne, Sr.; her parents, Ledelle and Elodie LeBlanc Huval; her sister, Mrs. Morral (Flo) Roy; and her brothers, Clarence, Sidney and Steve Huval. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service. Rosaries will be recited at 4:00 p.m. by the C.C.D. and at 6:30 p.m. by Fr. Ed Degeyter, on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Craig Melancon, Brian Melancon, Brent Broussard, Craig Fuselier, Casey Poche and Ryan Owen. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Smith and Layton Broussard. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Warren Degatur, Wendy Fuselier, the administration and staff of St. Martin Hospital, Hospice of Acadiana, Jo Doucet, Laura Berard, and the administration and staff of St. Martin Rehab and Nursing Center, for the care they provided to her over the past few years. Memorial donations may be made, in her name, to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston Street, Ste. 200, Lafayette, LA 70503. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
