New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Eugene Duhon, Jr.,76, who died Sunday, September 22, 2013, in New Iberia.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 11:30 AM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A Masonic service will be held at 6:30 PM Wednesday, and a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
Mr. Duhon was native and lifelong resident of Iberia Parish, and was born on April 30, 1937 to Eugene Duhon, Sr., and Martine Desormeaux Duhon. A retired rice and soybean farmer, he and his late wife Ruby, were the owners of Clinical Med Supply for 25 years. He was a member of the Acadian Orchid Society, the Aurora Masonic Lodge No. 193, Shriners Coastal Club, and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his sons, Shelly Duhon of New Iberia, Derk Duhon of New Iberia; daughters, Patrice Duhon Wiggins and husband Carl of San Jose, CA, Angie Renard and husband Jace of Delcambre; sisters, Rita McDonald of New Iberia, Ruby McDonald of New Iberia, Hilda Stelly of New Iberia; grandchildren, Aaron Romero, Martine Alexander, Chloe Duhon; great grandchildren, Madison Romero, Blakley Romero, Lucas Alexander, Jr.; step grandchildren, Garrett Wiggins, Ian Wiggins; step great grandchild, Rylan Wiggins; godchildren, Marla Broussard, Alecia Broussard, Sim Desormeaux, Jr.; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Ruby Duhon; sisters, Margie Derise, Audrey Groff; brothers, Cleveland Duhon, Melvin Duhon; and a godchild, Maxine McDonald Boudreaux.
Pallbearers will be Shelly Duhon, Derk Duhon, Carl Wiggins, Jace Renard, Aaron Romero, and Lucas Alexander.
Honorary pallbearers include Mark McDonald, Jude McDonald, Mike McDonald, and Kim McDonald.
