Breaux Bridge - A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on June 13, 2023, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Eugene Theriot, 78, who passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 1:00 PM by Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert.
Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate the memorial service. Readers will be Bridgette Hebert and Corrie Saunier.
Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2.
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Eugene Joseph Theriot, a man who touched the lives of so many. Eugene was born on July 6, 1944, and left this world on June 6, 2023. He lived a long and full life and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Eugene's career as a Tow Boat Captain spanned many years. He found joy in his work on the water and had a deep respect for it. Eugene was known for his hardworking nature and his ability to adapt to any situation that came his way.
Above all else, Eugene will be remembered for his kindness and love towards his family. He cherished every moment he spent with them, and they were truly his pride and joy.
Eugene was a man of many talents and interests. He had a particular passion for his 1958 and 1959 Edsel cars, taking great care in maintaining them over the years. Additionally, he enjoyed playing card games twice a week with friends, cooking up delicious meals in the kitchen, and spending time fishing or hunting. As a "Jack of all Trades," Eugene made sure he never stopped learning new things. Notably, he belonged to esteemed organizations such as Lafayette Boat Club, Cruising Cajuns RV, and Bayou Krusers.
Eugene also had the honor of serving in the United States Army National Guard and the 20th Special Forces Airborne. He loved his country deeply and held great pride in standing up for what he believed in.
Although it is hard to imagine life without him, we take comfort in knowing that Eugene leaves behind an incredible legacy - one that will continue to inspire us for generations to come. His kindness, work ethic, humility, compassion, and generosity were just a few of his defining qualities that made him one of a kind. Eugene Joseph Theriot was a true gem in this world and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lucinda "Cindy" H. Theriot; sons, David (Gina) Theriot and Eric Theriot; stepson, John (Rachel) Blanchard; stepdaughter, Bridgette (Kyle) Hebert; brother, Clement (Betty) Theriot; sisters, Martha Landry, Lena (Shane) LeBlanc, Linda (Norris) Huval, and Audrey Marks; grandchildren, Alyssa Theriot, Corrie Saunier; step-grandchildren, Tyler Blanchard, Claudia Hebert, Gabriell Ardoin and Jordan Guidry; great grandchildren, Blaise Vital, Jorrie Vital, Pierce Renalds, Jacelyn Renalds, and a step great grandchildren, Reid Blanchard. and Ayla Ardoin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Myrtile and Hilda Bourque Theriot; brother, Joe Theriot; and his stepdaughter, Hope Guidry.
