St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Eula Cecile Chambers Vital, 82, who passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 pm on Friday evening. Fr. Stanley Jawa will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Angeline Broussard and LaToya Cole. Gift Bearers will be Theresa Vital Gardner, Bonnie Gilbert, and Dollie Barnes. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Loreauville. Eula was a devout Catholic who enjoyed attending Mass weekly. An avid flower gardener, she loved flowers and watching the beautiful blooms that the Lord created for her to enjoy. She loved cooking and family gatherings on weekends with her children and grandchildren. As a pastime Eula enjoyed traveling, dancing, going to the casino, playing cards, and Bingo. She is survived by her loving companion, Willis Jones, Sr. of Cade; five sons, John Russell, Sr., Paul Danny, and Grayling Joseph Vital, Sr., all of St. Martinville, James London Vital, Sr. of Kinder, and Gregory Joseph Vital, Sr. (Michelle) of Loreauville; six daughters, Dollie Barnes (Johnny) of New Iberia, Roxanne Vital of Franklin, Theresa Vital Gardner (Kenneth), Bonnie Gilbert (James), all of St. Martinville, Carlette Johnson (Colby) of Houston, TX, and Allison Anetra Mitchell (Joseph) of Katy, TX; one brother, Nathan Chambers of New Iberia; one sister, Vera Hypolite of New Iberia; a special granddaughter whom she raised as her daughter, Marie Eula Mae Vital of Atlanta, GA; 37 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Whitney and Rachel Decuir Chambers; her husband, L. J. Vital, Sr., four sons, L.J. Vital, Jr., Rapheal Vital, John Carroll Vital, and Thomas Kerry Vital; four daughters, Barbara Ann Vital, Donna Faye V. Hampton, Mary Madeline Vital, and Eula Mae Vital; her sister, Dessie Raymond; and four grandchildren, James London Vital, Jr., TeYanna Nevaeh Mitchell, Asia Alonzo Vital, and Jamasha Vital. Pall Bearers will be Bruce Hampton, Jr., Quinton Cormier, Kearston Gibson, Lamar Narcisse, Joshua Fontenette, and Reginald Simon. Honorary Pall Bearers will be John Russell Vital, Sr., Paul Danny Vital, James London Vital, Sr., Gregory Joseph Vital, Sr., and Grayling Joseph Vital, Sr. Pellerin Funeral Home , 112 New Market St., St. Martinville, LA 70582 (337.394.9121), is in charge of arrangements.
