New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Eunice Touchet Benoit, 66, who passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019, in New Iberia.
Interment will be at a later date.
Rev. Keith Landry will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be prayed at 7:00 pm Wednesday.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Benoit was born on January 29, 1953. She was the “Queen” of babysitters, and would spend all of her time watching and worrying about the kids. Mrs. Benoit would give back what she never had and loved every minute of it. She was well known for making boudin and would take charge of the kitchen or wherever it was being made. Mrs. Benoit never had a recipe for anything. She learned how to cook from her mother, father, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Benoit; son, Neal Benoit of New Iberia; daughters, Rachel Benoit of New Iberia, Natalie B. LeBlanc and husband Damon of New Iberia; brothers, Whitney Touchet and wife Lorena of New Iberia, Wilton Touchet of New Iberia, Scotty Touchet of New Iberia, Michael Gary and wife Lisa of Coteau; sisters, Patricia Dutile of New Iberia, Charlene Kern and husband Merlin of Bull Island, Julia Maturin and husband Gerald of New Iberia, Brenda Henry and husband Walter of Coteau; brother-in-laws, Keith Benoit of Coteau, Scott Benoit of Cade; sister-in-laws, Alicia Broussard and husband Richard of Loreauville, Marilyn Porter and husband Alan of Oregon; grandchildren, Deziree' Suttoon, Destiny Sonnier, Mason Benoit, Jasmyne LeBlanc, Layne LeBlanc; and numerous nieces, nephews, and little cousins that she spoiled, and raised.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Touchet; bilogical mother, Lillie Mae Dore; mother, Beverly Alleman; in-laws, Wavely and Eva Delle Benoit; brothers, Douglas Touchet, Joseph Touchet, Keith Touchet, Wilson Touchet; nephew, Jarred (JBird) Maturin; and brother-in-law, Michael Morvant.
