Breaux Bridge - We mourn the passing of Euranie 'Nin' Dore Cormier, 96, of Breaux Bridge, who died Monday, August 29, 2011.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She very much disliked her given name of Euranie and preferred to be called by her nickname. Nin was a homemaker very devoted to her husband, Louis, having supported him in his work throughout her adult life. Louis preceded her in death recently. He was also 96.
She greatly enjoyed cooking the crawfish caught by her husband in numerous dishes on the holidays and did so for many decades. Nin was an avid card player, having played bourr on Tuesday nights for many years, which she continued until about a week prior to her death. She had a great sense of humor and often brought a smile when it was much needed.
She is survived by her sister, Anne Dore Guidry; her son, Ralph Cormier; and her daughter, Velma Cormier Hebert. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Dale Hebert; and her son's companion, Nancy Whitley.
She leaves an enduring legacy of eight grandchildren, Anna Cormier Durand and her husband Louis Durand, Ralph Jeffery Cormier, Susie Cormier Matthieu and her husband Ronald Matthieu, Ena Cormier, Anita Cormier Leblanc, Errol Cormier, Mitzi Hebert Theall and her husband Aaron Theall, and James Hebert and his wife Jeanne Hebert; 12 great-grandchildren, Corey Durand, Blake Durand, Gregg Durand, Terra Matthieu Melancon, Ronnie Matthieu, Trisha Huval, Christopher Huval, April Leblanc Schendel, Ali Leblanc, Justin Badeaux, Jordan Badeaux and Colin Hebert; and 10 great-great-grandchildren, Drew Durand, Charli Durand, Emily Durand, Camryn Durand, Brayden Melancon, Dylan Melancon, Emma Matthieu, Kel Matthieu, Logan McMichael and Kingston Badeaux.
Euranie Dore Cormier was preceded in death by her parents, Aymar and Armentine Dore; 14 brothers and sisters, Dosite Dore, Lesain Dore, Lesaire Dore, Antoine Dore, John Dore, Leo Paul Dore, Joseph Dore, Marie Dore, Ophelia Dore Allemand, Celina Dore Theriot, and several who died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Marie Louise Richard Cormier.
