New Iberia A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM, on Monday, December 29, 2014, at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia, for Evelyn Delahoussaye Voorhies, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in New Iberia. There will be a private burial.
Born August 11, 1924 and a lifelong resident of New Iberia, Lynn graduated from Mt. Carmel. Her greatest enjoyment was being in the company of her many family and friends. Traveling, a game of bridge or dominoes, or a challenging jigsaw puzzle put a smile on her face.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. The rosary will be prayed at 4:00 PM on Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
She is survived by her two daughters, Roberta L. Voorhies of Madisonville, LA, Pamela V. de Mahy of New Orleans, LA; two sons, James B. Voorhies, Jr. of Lafayette, LA, Francis J. Voorhies, II of St. Francisville, LA; two sisters, Martha D. Borel of New Iberia, LA, Dorothy D. Escuriex of New Iberia, LA; brother, Charles L. Delahoussaye of New Iberia, LA; 5 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her father, Walter Rene Delahoussaye; mother, Nita Lassalle Delahoussaye; son, Walter Rene Voorhies, brother, Rene Francis Delahoussaye.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the medical staff and personnel of Iberia Medical Center, Heart of Hospice, and Azalea Estates Assisted Living.
