Ewell "Brother" Lemaire

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Ewell "Brother" Lemaire, 90, who passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at J. Michael Morrow Memorial Nursing Home.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday beginning at 3:30 pm. It will remain open all night until 10:00 am on Saturday. 

A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday evening. 

Father Michael Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Michael Jumonville and Karly Guidry. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. 

Brother's career spanned over 25 years as a crew boat captain. His dedication to his work made him a highly respected member of the industry. In addition to his time on the water, Brother also worked in the rice fields and crawfish ponds. 

Outside of work, Brother had a multitude of hobbies and interests that brought him joy. He had an undeniable passion for spending time outdoors: fishing, frogging and trolling. He also loved going to the beach and dancing.  Above all else, Brother cherished time spent with his family. 

One of Brother's proudest accomplishments was at the age of 69 when he embarked on an extraordinary journey. He traveled to Saudi Arabia to undertake a job that no one else was willing to do. This act showcased his unwavering determination and brave spirit, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is survived by his son, Anthony Lemaire (Bridgette); daughters, Yvonne Trahan, Annette Havard (Donald), Margaret Guidry (Cuz) and Jeanne Fontenot (Autry); brother, Roland Lemaire (Virgie); grandchildren, Michael Trahan, Jr. (Katie), Lindsey Sassau (Corey), Joshua Trahan (Michael), Donnie Havard, Karly Guidry, Kelli Lalonde (Derek), Miranda Breaux, Paul Breaux, III, Kasey Lemaire (Austin), Cameron Lemaire (Landon), Nicholas Fontenot, Alexander Fontenot, Meredith Baudoin (Kenny) and Crystal Breaux; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Baudoin Lemaire; parents, Mayo Lemaire and Yvonne Marceaux Lemaire; sisters, Jeanne Touchet (Doc) and Hazel Clark (Murphy); brothers, Daniel Lemaire, Dallas Lemaire and Leroy Lemaire (Flo); and parents-in-law, Gladu and Felicia Baudoin. 

Pallbearers will be Michael Trahan, Jr., Joshua Trahan, Donnie Havard, Paul Breaux, III, Anthony Lemaire and Donald Havard.

Honorary Pallbearers Autry Fontenot and Cuz Langlinais. 

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home for the care and compassion they've shown over the last 11 years.
