Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church honoring the life of Fannie Lou John, 79, who passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 surrounded by her family.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
A Rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday morning.
Father Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Stephanie Babineaux and Eva Dugas.
Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery.
Fannie dedicated 31 years to Poché's Restaurant, where she was employed as a chef. She was known for her excellent cooking and her ability to ensure that everyone always had what they needed. Her classy and welcoming spirit made sure that everyone felt at home.
Fannie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it be going to the casino, playing cards or listening to music with a cold beer. She was a devoted wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Calvin John, Sr.; sons, Calvin Jones, Jr. (Tessa) and Maxie Noel (Doris); daughters, Venessa Williams (Coby) and Shalonda Jones (Quincy); brother, Irvin Noel; sisters, Mary Guilbeau (Paul) and Pamella Bob; grandchildren, Dedrick Jones (Erica), Brandon Jones, Kentrelle Jones, Shawn Alexander and Deven Paddio; and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Landis Noel, Sr. and Lorita Charles Noel; brothers, Shelton Noel, Velton Noel and Landis "Toney" Noel, Jr.; and sisters, Marella Julian and Mary Genevieve Leday.
Pallbearers will be Dedrick Jones, Brandon Jones, Kentrelle Jones, Shawn Alexander, Brandon Francis and Marcus Gardiner.
Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Jones, Jr., Maxie Noel, Quincy Andrus and Coby Williams.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
