New Iberia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Flo Laperouse Johnson, 97, at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in the St. Peter Cemetery.
Rev. William C. Blanda will be the Celebrant.
A gathering of family and friends will be at St. Peter Catholic Church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Johnson died peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 3, 2017, surrounded by her children.
She will be lovingly remembered by Carole SuSu Lester, Jean Pratt, Elaine Fortier, and Chris Johnson, her four children who cared for her during her illness. Her memory will also be cherished by her ten grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, Valery and Marie Mygnonne Marin Laperouse, Sr. and her brother, Valery Laperouse, Jr.
Flo was a beloved fourth grade teacher for 29 years. She taught and loved her students at Weeks Island School until its closing and then at North Lewis Elementary. Upon retirement from her teaching profession, she worked several years at The Rosary House in New Iberia.
Special thanks are given to Dr. Jay Halphen who devotedly brought the Holy Eucharist to her each week, a highlight of her day.
Much gratitude is also given to Edna, Peggy, Therese and Linda, whose loving care was so generously extended to our mother.
Also, our appreciation is extended to Brandi and staff of Compassus Hospice who attended Mamma in her last days.
Pallbearers will be members of her family.
