Parks - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 12, 2008, at St. Louis Chapel in Parks, for Flora Belle Menard Henry, 74, who passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at her residence.
Interment will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Readers will be Sanieka Ledet and Lakera Henry. ?Gift bearers will be Angela Henry and Danette Gardner.
Mrs. Henry enjoyed listening to Gospel music, attending Mass, and cooking many feasts for all to eat and enjoy. ?She treasured the many times she spent with her family and friends. While having gatherings at her home, she always enjoyed playing cards with her family. ?She instilled in her children, as they became adults, to always, ""Put God First,"" in their lives.
She is survived by her sons, Willie (Susan) Henry, Joseph Henry (Peggy Broussard), all of Parks, John Henry, Jr., Terry (Katrina) Henry, Anthony (Monica) Henry, all of St. Martinville, Michael (Stella) Henry, of Lafayette, Walter (Geneva) Henry, of Breaux Bridge, and Jeffery Henry, whom she raised as her own, of Breaux Bridge; her daughters, Theresa (Charles) Loston, of Parks, Flora (Clifton) Allen, of Cypress Island, Catherine (Newman) Batiste, of St. Martinville, and Angela Henry, whom she also raised as her own, of St. Martinville; her step children, Labanna Ledet, of New Iberia, and Arthur Ledet, of St. Martinville; two brothers, Howard (Earlene) Menard, of St. Martinville, and Olivier Menard, of Houston, TX; two sisters, Mary Elle Menard, of Parks, and Francis Benjamin, of New Iberia; 53 grandchildren; and 55 great grandchildren; and two grandchildren that she raised, Victoria Henry and Lou Rawls, both of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry, Sr.; her parents, Francis and Icy Fentroy Menard; two grandchildren, John Henry, III, and Markel Henry; her great grandchild, Shane Lewis, Jr.; her sister, Jessie Lee Guilliam; her step daughter, Savannah Orphe; and several aunts and uncles.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at St. Louis Chapel from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue until time of service. ?A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Henry, Clifton Allen, IV, Terry Henry, Jeffery Henry, Lou Henry, Wilfred Marshall, and Fidelis Joseph.
Honorary pallbearers will be Willie, John, Michael, Walter, and Joseph Henry, and Howard and Olivier Menard.
