New Iberia Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Florence Flo Pellerin Barras, 92, who died on Sunday, November 2, 2014 in New Iberia.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Deacon Theo Landry will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Tuesday. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Barras was born on September 22, 1922 to Edmond J. Pellerin, Jr. and Felician Hebert Pellerin, and was a graduate of New Iberia High School. She attended U.S.L., and was employed with the Iberia Parish School Board as a Remedial Language Arts Specialist, and had worked for First Federal Savings and Loan. Mrs. Barras was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, the church choir, Louisiana Daughters of the American Revolution, Les Amis, and was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Her hobbies included dancing, traveling (especially to the beach), solving crossword puzzles, art, golf, exercising, and playing Bridge. She had a gift of always recognizing the goodness in everyone.
Survivors include her children: Gwen Barras Tart and husband Jim of Dallas, Texas, Linda Barras Keasler and husband Bobby of Lake Charles, Steve Barras of New Iberia, Debbie Barras Miller and husband Hank of Slidell, Randy Barras and wife Peggy Reinach Barras of Lafayette, Sybil Barras Williamson and husband Buddy of Broussard, Myra Musso of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Bertha Delcambre, Sue Badeaux, and Gladys Grow all of New Iberia; 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Rudy Barras; grandson Sgt. Patrick Williamson; brothers Willis Pellerin, and Wilton T-Boy Pellerin.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Musso, Jordan Musso, Max Williamson, Mark Barras, David Barras, Trey Miller, and Scot Keasler.
