St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Florence Mary Greene Etienne, 73, who passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Entombment will follow at Queen of Peace Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
Father Augustinus Seran, SVD, will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Devora Orphe and Linda Raymond. Gift Bearers will be Katelyn Etienne, Taylor Harris, Sydni Harris, and Cameron Etienne.
Florence was a parishioner of Notre Dame Catholic Church, where she served as an Usher (retired) and Eucharistic Minister, and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and the K.P.C. Ladies Auxiliary, 3rd and 4th Degree. She was also a member of the Goodwill Mutual Aid Society.
Survivors include her husband, Warren Etienne, Sr., of St. Martinville; two sons, Warren Etienne, Jr. and companion, Lovenia Landry, and Paul Etienne and wife, Brendaline, all of St. Martinville; one daughter, Cynthia Hypolite, of St. Martinville; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Etienne, of Gainesville, FL, and Mary Etienne, of Galveston, TX; one brother, Joseph Nathan Greene, of Compton, GA; two sisters, Mary Alice Washington, of Port Arthur, TX, and Mayola Williams and husband, Joseph, of Broussard; her brother-in-law, Olan Etienne, of St. Martinville; her sister-in-law, Juanita Etienne, of LaMarque, TX; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Wilton Etienne; a son-in-law, Richard Hypolite; her parents, Wilson and Carmen Charles Greene; one brother, Joseph Greene; one sister, Clara Greene; three brothers-in-law, Freddie Washington, Raymond Etienne, and Edward Jones, Sr.; and a sister-in-law, Julia Jones.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
