Floyd Raymond Blanchard

March 1, 1937 — April 10, 2008

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Floyd Raymond Blanchard, 71, who passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoluem, in St. Martinville. Rev. Fr. Austin Leger, Pastor of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, will officiate at the funeral Mass, Concelebrant will be Rev. Fr. Ed Degeyter. ?Readers will be Gerry Cormier and Juanita Boudeaux. Gift bearers will be ?Holly Nassans, Zack Blanchard, Gavin Pritchard, and Jayden Gooch. Mr. Blanchard enjoyed wood carving, knife making, hunting and fishing. ?The moments that he treasured most, were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and his lovely wife of 49 years, Loretta. ?Floyd will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity of befriending him throughout his life. Survivors include his wife, Loretta Melancon; one son, Kent Blanchard and his wife, Crystal; one daughter, Tiffany Blanchard, all of St. Martinville; his father, Francis Blanchard, of St. Martinville; one brother, Kenneth Blanchard, of St. Martinville; two sisters, Joan Blanchard, of Wheatridge, CO, and Jackie Eastin, of New Iberia; four grandchildren, Bronson Cormier, Zack Blanchard, Holly Nassans, and Devin King; and three great grandchildren, Gavin Pritchard, Jayden Gooch, and Ahna Millegan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Peltier Blanchard; a daughter, Vickie Blanchard; and a grandchild, Valarie Nassans. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. on Friday and continue 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Raymond Daspit, Carl Dugas, Ralph Broussard, Kent Blanchard, Kenneth Blanchard, and R. J. Robicheaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Al Cormier, Ed Bonin, Roger Louviere, Roy Poche, and Palmer Fuselier. Pellerin Funeral Home of St. Martinville is in charge of arrangements.
