Lafayette - Frances Layton Lytle, age 93, died on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at her daughter's home in Austin, TX. A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church in Lafayette on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 am, a memorial gathering will begin at 10:30 am.
Frances was born in DeRidder, LA, the youngest of four children, to the late John and Kathleen Johnston Frusha. She attended SLI in Lafayette from 1945-1948 and worked for Sears and Roebuck for 27 years. Frances was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, where she volunteered her services and played the Hand Bells. She was a former board member of Chorale Acadienne and former member of the Altrusa Business Club. Frances lived a full and generous life. She was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Her love of music, art and nature was exceeded only by her love of family and friends. She had many talents such as baking, gardening and decorating. Frances had a witty, cheerful, and adventurous spirit and she loved life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Ourston and spouse Jacquie Bourdens of Austin, TX, Marsha Giessler and spouse Jimmy of Lafayette, LA, and Karen Delcambre and spouse Bill of Grand Coteau, LA; son, Steve Layton and wife Susan of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Layton, Michelle Pierce, Jon Wayne Stephens, Rachael Stephens, Conrad Delcambre and spouse Sheena, Tyler Delcambre and spouse Julia, Eric Ourston, Emma Kinross and spouse Spencer, Ryan Faul and spouse Amy, and Christopher Ford and spouse Nickie; and her great grandchildren, Chase, Luke, Helen, Paxton, Wyatt, Alexis, Olivia, Lily, Jared, Allison and baby Elise on the way.
She was preceded in death by her father, John E. Frusha; mother, Kathleen Johnston Frusha; grandson, Stephen Author Layton; and her siblings, Marjorie Francis, Eloise McElroy, and Douglas Frusha.
