Francine Williams

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am, on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Francine Semone Valsin Williams, 35, who passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday, and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 8:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Friday. Fr. Augustinus Seran will officiate at the Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Francine worked at Wal-Mart for several years as a stocker and loved that environment because it gave her the opportunity to meet and make new friends. She loved dancing, baking, singing, shopping, gatherings and spending time with her family and friends. Francine loved her children unconditionally, and in her eyes they were a gift from God. Through Francine's illness, she shared a saying that got her through this dark time in her life; each day she recited "My strength is in my smile" and "And this too shall pass". Francine enjoyed encouraging others through social media and in this process, she allowed herself to realize and remind others that someone else has it worse. She will be remembered for her courage, strength, will to live, and her beautiful smile that brought joy to everyone. She is survived by her husband, John Brian Williams of St. Martinville; three sons, Dylan Benjamin, Brandon Benjamin, and Deiondre Benjamin, all of St. Martinville; two daughters, Anjanae Benjamin and Aniyah Benjamin, both of St. Martinville; and three sisters, Carla Faye Valsin, Tammy Valsin, and Shontell (Mark) Quinney, all of St. Martinville. She is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary Ann Gedward Valsin; and her sister, Cassandra Valsin. Pallbearers will be Jonas Williams, Jamaal Parker, Kenneth Eaglin II, Devin Broussard, Cornell Gedward, and Desmund Gedward. Honorary pallbearers will be Dylan Benjamin, Brandon Benjamin, Deiondre Benjamin, Courtney Dugas and Dalton Williams.
