St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in St. Martinville, for Francis M. Boggs, Sr., 85, who passed away on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Rev. Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, will officiate at the funeral service.
Mr. Boggs was a veteran of World War II, having served at Guadal Canal. ?He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. ?Many hours of his life were devoted to loving his wife and providing a good life for his family.
He is survived by nine sons, Michael Boggs and wife, Marilyn, James ""Jimmy"" Boggs and wife, Nedra, Charles ""Chuck"" Boggs, William ""Billy"" Boggs, and wife, Sharon, Francis ""Tance"" Boggs, Jr., and wife, Nona, Carl ""Peter"" Boggs and wife, Brenda, Scott Boggs, Joseph ""Jody"" Boggs and wife, Carla, and Patrick Boggs and wife, Patty; two daughters, Colleen B. Willis and husband, Matt, and Ann Margaret B. Romero and husband, David; 26 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Guirard Boggs; a granddaughter, Kayla Rae Boggs; his mother, Alvina Anderson; and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Dorthea Anderson.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited by Deacon Harris Bergeron at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be his sons.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Sally Gaudin for the care she so lovingly provided to him.
