St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Francis "Lightning" Joseph Narcisse, Jr., 87, who passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023, at his residence.
A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Thursday from 7:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am on Thursday morning.
Rev. Abelardo Gabriel, SVD, will officiate at the funeral mass. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Francis, known to many as "Lightning", was a life-long resident of St. Martinville. He worked for the city of St. Martinville for over 30 years. Lightning was an avid sportsman and he enjoyed rabbit hunting with his friends. He loved spending time running his beagles, Bumpy and Man. Lightning was blessed to have his memory until he passed. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mazel Mason Narcisse; sons, Gabriel Narcisse (Evette), Nathaniel Narcisse, and Javonte Anthony; daughters, Stephaine Odu (Louis), Frannie Narcisse, and Shinaya Fuselier; sister, Rose Mary Narcisse; grandchildren, Daniel Odu (Megan), David Odu, Joy Odu, Tayshiana Narcisse, Talayshia Narcisse, and Toure Lacy-Narcisse; and eight great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis Narcisse, Sr. and Mary Burke Narcisse; grandson, Deyon Narcisse; sister, Pearl Wilson; and brothers, Vennis Narcisse, Oscar Narcisse, Lawrence Narcisse, Ernest Glover, Bill Glover, Leroy Glover, and Raymond Narcisse.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
