New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Highland Baptist Church in New Iberia, for Frank "Moose" Sierra , 67, who passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018, in Lafayette.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday, and will continue on Tuesday at 8:00 am until 9:30 am.
Rev. David Denton will be the Officiant.
Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia.
A longtime resident of Acadiana, Frank "Moose" Sierra was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 30, 1951 and was a 1969 graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. He loved his country, and was a proud Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was exposed to Agent Orange. Mr. Sierra was a retired Crematory Operator and limousine driver, having worked for Limousines, Ltd. for many years. He was also a pen and ink artist, and a member of Art Guild. He loved classic rock music, and had an extensive vinyl record collection. He also had a fierce passion for Mustangs, and was a member of Cruisin Cajun Country Car Club. He was also a member of Highland Baptist Church. Moose was the "prop person" at IPAL, one of the many organizations he volunteered for in the community. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Sierra is survived by his loving wife, Vernice Badeaux Sierra; step-father, Terry Lee Becht of Duson; daughters, Alicia Sierra Smith and husband Travis of Scott, Danielle Bourque Watson and husband Bruce of New Iberia, Amy Bourque delaHoussaye and husband Ben of New Iberia, and Andrea Bourque Gathe and husband Wallace of New Iberia; sons, Geoffrey Sierra of Boston, MA, and Gerald "J.J." Bourque, Jr. of New Iberia; grandchildren, Gabriel and Ezekiel Smith, Brittney, Elizabeth, Victoria and Trey Watson, Christopher and Celesta Collins, MacKenzie, Caleb and Skylar delaHoussaye, Evan Bourque, Hunter, Kaleb and Alivia Gathe, and Carter and Mason Bourque; brothers, Richard Sierra and wife Cindy, and Robert Sierra; and sisters, Rosemarie Johnson, Rachael Nero and husband Michael, and Theresa Becht.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Valerie Terrazas Becht; father, Ralph Sierra, Sr.; grandchild, Cameron Collins; and a brother, Ralph Sierra, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Sierra, Gerald "J.J." Bourque, Jr., Travis Smith, Bruce Watson, Jr., Wallace Gathe, and Ben delaHoussaye.
