New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Frankie Jester LeBlanc, 74, who passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016, in New Iberia.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, led by Faye Boutte, Prayer Group Leader.
Rev. Paul Onuegbe will be the Celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Marcellus Catholic Church Cemetery in Rynella.
Frank Lucia Marsalis Jester LeBlanc was born in New Iberia, LA on August 4, 1942 to the late Virginia Mary "Buster" Smith and Roy Morris Marsalis. She was a 1961 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School, and was very strong in her faith. She was a founding member of Jesus is Alive Prayer Group, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, and a longtime member of the Charismatic Renewal. She taught catechism, and had a Rosary Club at her home for many years. She was also in charge of the Prayer Line, praying for numerous people over the years. Frankie loved teddy bears, the Atlanta Braves, and sewing pillowcases for the ill.
Frankie is survived by her husband, Nellan LeBlanc of New Iberia; daughter, Portia Jester Fortier and husband Billy of Broussard; sons, Jay Jester, Jr. and wife Ginger, and Robert Jester, all of New Iberia: step daughters, Bonnie Duplantis and husband Jed of New Iberia, and Toni LeBlanc of Lafayette; step son, Timmy LeBlanc of Lafayette; granddaughters, Nathalie Fortier and Jada Jester; sisters, Patsy Rader and husband Norris, Rader, Sr. of New Iberia, and Virginia Savoy and husband John Courtney of Opelousas; sisters-in-law, Myrna S. Marsalis and Frances Landry; brother-in-law, Huey Robichaux; 10 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Penny.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Phillip Jester, Sr; step-daughter, Terry LeBlanc Chastant; sister, Susie Robichaux; and brother, Clarence "Bubba" Marsalis.
Pallbearers will be Jay Jester Jr., John Savoy, Norris Rader Jr., Tommy Gaspard, Morris Robichaux, and Drew Gambril.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert Jester and Nolan Gaspard, Jr.
Special thanks to Dr. Gerald Elias, Jr., Tommy Gaspard (caretaker), and the staffs of St. Joseph Hospice and Iberia Medical Center for excellent care.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel Alumni, Jesus is Alive Prayer Group, or St. Josephs Diner.
