Coteau A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, on Monday, January 5, 2015, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Coteau for Freddie J. Romero, age 82, who passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015, at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau. Rev. Ed Degeyter will be the Celebrant. Readers will be Devyn Broussard and Mitzie Delcambre. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Mr. Freddie was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former Grand Knight. He cherished moments spent with family and friends. Mr. Freddie was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed times out on the water with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Verna Renard Romero of New Iberia, LA; son, Glenn Romero and companion Sam Bowers of Dallas, TX; daughters, Susan Claire Romero of St. Martinville, LA, Frances R. Thibodeaux and husband Oran of Youngsville, LA; grandchildren Rory J. Romero and wife Jaki of New Iberia, LA, Nicole T. Borel and husband Blake of Abbeville, LA, Trent M. Romero and wife Brena of Broussard, LA; 2 grand-grandchildren Gage M. Romero of New Iberia and Atia Borel of Abbeville, LA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Abrard Romero and Amelia Derouen Romero; son, Steven Romero; and two sisters,Gertrude Freyou and Jeanette Hebert. Pallbearers will be Rory J. Romero, Trent M. Romero, Brent Broussard, Kit Bourque, Blake Borel, and David Delcambre. Honorary pallbearers will be Gage M. Romero and Layton Broussard. Pellerin Funeral Home of New Iberia, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, Louisiana 70560, (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
