St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Gabriel Leon, Jr., 81, who passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016, at Amelia Manor Nursing Home. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Notre Dame Catholic Church from 7:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Readers will be Alfreda Jones and Andyonna Jones. Gift Bearers will be Dajah Jones and Jasmine Smothers. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in St. Martinville. Mr. Leon enjoyed eating, playing cards, listening to Zydeco music, and going to the casino. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Jones and Beatrice Leon both of St. Martinville; brother, Eraste Leon of New Iberia; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel Leon, Sr. and Edmae Ledet Leon; sisters, Ednae Sam and Mary Agnes Ophe; brothers, Joseph Sylvester and Leonard Paul Leon; nieces, Mary Joyce Leon and Tasha Leon; and nephew, Jermaine Jones. Pallbearers will be Alfred Jones, Michael Jones, David Jones, Edward Menard, Joseph Sylvester Leon Jr., and Jeffery Leon. Honorary pallbearers will be Peter Leon, Bryant Leon, Dwayne Leon, Travis Jones, Christopher Jones, Clayton Gilbert, and Eddie Flugence.
