Garrett Matthew Tabor

July 24, 1986 — October 29, 2006

St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2006, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Garrett Matthew Tabor, 20, who died Sunday, October 29, 2006 at his home. Entombment will be in St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. A 2004 graduate of St. Martinville Sr. High School, Garrett was popular among teachers and friends as an artistic, well-mannered, intelligent student, filled with an unquenchable curiosity and thirst for knowledge. After a few sharp bends in the road, Garrett had secured oilfield employment with later plans to fulfill his dream of college, then law school. How do we reconcile our loss...those of us left to mourn this precious soul How do we celebrate the unfulfilled hopes and dreams of a promise broken As we wonder why Garrett was taken too early in life, we continue praying, maintaining our trust in God, and find comfort in the belief that God needed another angel and Garrett is in His loving arms for eternity. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Garrett left us far too soon, but he lives on in the hearts of his family and friends who will forever celebrate the memory of his gentle spirit, loving and generous nature, witty sense of humor, and hearty laugh. His beautiful smile was contagious; a gift one couldn't help but return. Garrett is survived by his parents; Al Tabor and Gwen Beslin Tabor; his beloved brother, Wyatt Tabor; his maternal grandfather, DeBlanc Beslin; his paternal grandmother, Helen Tabor; maternal aunts and uncles, Tommy Beslin and his spouse, Lori Theriot Beslin, Anne Beslin Melancon and her husband, George Melancon and Stevie Beslin, all of St. Martinville. He is also survived by paternal aunts and uncles, Bonnie Tabor Vann and Philip Vann, and Carrie Tabor Willis and Ruffin Willis, all of St. Martinville. Garrett is also dearly missed by his cousins, Jacob Beslin, Ali Beslin, Amber Vann, John Beslin, Marly Melancon, Gage Vann, and his close friends, Bryce, Jeremy, Colby and Shawn. He was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Lilly Bell Guirard Beslin; his paternal grandfather, Al Tabor, Sr; and his paternal aunt, Debra Tabor. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. ~ 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006 and continue at 7:00 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2006 until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Casey Tate, Jeremy Greig, Colby Cormier, Bryce Blanchard, Shawn Bergeron and Jacob Beslin. Honorary pallbearers will be his two uncles, Tommy Beslin and Stevie Beslin.
